Landforms Science & Media links the worlds of science and the media.

Our wide experience in both scientific research and communication with the press has acquainted us with both ways of thinking, the scientist's and the journalist's or multimedia reporter's. Whereas a scientist is inclined to lose himself in the details of his or her own work, a reporter queries its news value, and its significance to the general public. That can create misunderstandings. Scientists often complain that journalists misrepresent their stories and are only looking for sensation.

We can help scientists present their information more effectively to the press. We can help journalists find news items and contact the right scientists.

Press Office

From 2003 to 2011, Landforms Science & Media has run the Press Offices for the European Geosciences Union, EGU, Europe's largest learned society for Earth and planetary scientists.
